Dhurries are woven precisely the way a cloth is made by warp and weft, though by thick yarn very closely hand woven (no knottings). It makes a ‘thick flat weave fabric’ (like any cloth), which are usually reversible. Due to the fabric nature, Dhurries can be used on floor, hung on the wall (relatively light weight), sewn into pillows or covers or draped over furnitures.
Dhurries are woven in different qualities, which can be assessed by the intricacy of fineness of the motifs in the design. Thickness of the fabric is not the criteria of it’s value, but, the fineness of weaves (the fine weaves are made by fine thin yarns giving crisp fine details of the motifs in the design) determine the value of the Dhurries.
