The Hand Knotted Rug industry in India evolved centuries back when immigrants came from the then Persia. They brought their craftsmanship and taught the same to their descendants, who have flourished to this date with their art of weaving. Primarily, there are two types of knots being woven in the Rug Industry – one is Persian (Senneh) Knot and the other is Turkish knot. India being closer to Persia had more immigrants from Persia, who patronized the Senneh or Persian knots. Thus, mostly Persian or Senneh knots are being woven in India till this date.
